NBS: Pad inflacije u 2012.

Kikinda closer to getting solar plant - China, Serbia to form joint venture in early 2012
- The idea about the construction of a solar power plant in Kikinda, the first of the kind in Serbia, is nearing its implementation. Negotiations with Chinese partners on this topic have gone very far, in a positive sense, so that the implementation of this investment is most likely to commence in early 2012 - Vladimir Ilic, head of the North Banat administrative region, announces.

Ilic points out that representatives of China`s National Commission for Electricity Generation have visited Serbia several times because of that investment and spoken to people from the Provincial Energy Secretariat, which is competent for such projects. Local officials in Kikinda are also involved in the dialogue, to a certain extent.

- It is obvious that the Chinese are ready to implement this project, which is of exceptional importance for our town, as well as for the state as a whole - says Ilic.

- It was hinted that Serbia and China would form a joint venture for that purpose in one month, and that its first task would be to design a feasibility study for the future power plant. After that, the destiny of this investment, worth about EUR 150 million, will become clear.

If the negotiations with the Chinese end in success, the solar plant will have the capacity of 50 megawatts. The people of Kikinda have already chosen a location for that plant. It is a land parcel about 15 kilometers away from the town, situated on the left side of the main route to Belgrade.

As Vladimir Ilic stresses, it is of great importance that the Chinese capital enters our country and then attracts other foreign investors.

Idea is not ours

The idea to build a solar power plant in Kikinda has not come from us, but from the Chinese. Experts from China surprised everybody with an information that Kikinda is a town with the biggest number of sunny days per year in Serbia. That was their essential motive to come to the idea to build a solar plant in the north of Banat.
