Novi rekord u poslovanju "Telekoma Srbija" - Ostvaren najbolji poslovni rezultat u istoriji

Online advertising market in Serbia worth over EUR 6 million
The online advertising market in Serbia is worth over 6 million euros, but that is only 2 to 3 percent of all the funds earmarked for advertising in our country, said Httpool CEO Rade Trickovic.

- Although this percentage seems encouraging when compared to other industrial branches, the overall size of our market is half the Croatian one and three to four times smaller than the markets of Slovenia and Romania - Trickovic explained.

The growth trend, which has ranged between 40 and 60 percent over the past four years, continues, while the estimates show it will be present this year as well, said Trickovic.

According to his words, local companies still do not recognize sufficiently the opportunities and advantages of Internet advertising.

- That is why it is not a surprise that only 2 to 3 percent of all funds invested in advertising in Serbia are spent on the web advertising - Trickovic pointed out, adding that that percentage in Scandinavian countries and the United Kingdom was over 20.

Speaking about main obstacles that make the growth of the value of online advertising difficult, Trickovic mentioned non-transparency of the market as one of them.

- It is one of the main reasons why the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) Serbia has been formed recently. IAB Serbia is an organization whose task is to prescribe and suggest standards in the field of Internet advertising - said Trickovic.

He stressed that we should not expect too much because the online advertising market in Serbia was only five years old, the prices of advertising services had been significantly lower than in the region until recently, while the level of overall Internet activities in Serbia was not at the desired level.

Speaking about the errors occurring in such advertising, Trickovic said that they mainly concerned the creative approach.

- It most often happens that the creative solutions for Internet advertising are actually copies of the advertising material for the press, television and billboards, which significantly contributes to the poorer results of advertising campaigns - Trickovic stressed.

Also, according to his words, unlike in the classical media, a well-planned activity on the Internet can generate excellent results if the budget is small, but those who use this advantage are quite rare.

IT expert Dragan Varagic said that some small companies had realized the advantages of Internet and abandoned all other forms of advertising.

Tender for Jat Airways in late summer
State Secretary for Air Traffic of Serbia Miodrag Miljkovic stated that a tender for the selection of a strategic partner for the new Serbian airline should be announced in late summer.

- We plan to announce a tender at the end of summer and start the procedure of selection of a strategic partner and transfer of the property of Jat Airways to the new air transportation company - Miljkovic told Beta news agency.

Part of the property of Jat Airways, as he stressed, will be transferred to the new airline, certain part will be sold to settle the debts, and it is also possible that the rest of the company will continue to operate as an air charter company.

That will, as Miljkovic specified, be defined by the privatization adviser and the Government of Serbia, while the destiny of what is left of Jat will be determined in early 2012.

Miljkovic pointed out that the privatization adviser had finished the strategy and action plan for the transformation of Jat Airways and prepared a text for the ad informing potential buyers about the company.

He expressed the expectation that initial contacts with potential strategic partners for the new airline would soon be established.

- We expect to have some more concrete evidence of interest by summer. We primarily count on Turkish Airlines whose representatives should visit Serbia in May - he said.

As Miljkovic stressed, that is when we will learn what Turkish Airlines thinks about the government's privatization strategy for Jat Airways.

At its session on April 16, 2010, the Serbian government adopted a conclusion about the formation of a new airline, which should take the role of the national air transportation company in a strategic partnership with a foreign company.

The government hired the consulting company Deloitte in early March this year to provide advising services in the process of transformation of Jat Airways.
