Air Serbia Third on List of Best Regional Airline Companies in Europe as Selected by Skytrax Portal
In the annual selection of the worlds best airlines (World Airline Awards), which the British specialized portal Skytrax has been organizing for more than 20 years based on passenger experience surveys, Air Serbia won third place on the list of the 10 best regional airlines in Europe, the company announced.

Only the Greek Aegean Airlines and Air Malta were better positioned on the list and Air Serbia thus improved its last years result, when it took the sixth position in the same category.

According to Skytraxs methodology, regional airlines are full-service carriers that predominantly operate flights of up to six hours.

On the other hand, in the category of the best airlines in Eastern Europe, Air Serbia also won third place, which is an improvement over last year, when it was fifth, the national airline announced.

This year, before the Serbian national airline were only Air Baltic and LOT Polish, while after Air Serbia on the list were Wizz Air, CSA Czech Airlines, Croatia Airlines, Romanian Tarom and others.

– Progress on the Skytrax charts is an important indicator for us that we are on the right track. The coronavirus pandemic has strongly affected the overall business of all airlines. However, this summer season we recorded an increase in the number of passengers, which is an encouraging result. We continue to renew our fleet and expand the network – said Jiri Marek, CEO Air Serbia.

This years Skytrax selection is based on a survey conducted from September 2021 to August 2022 on more than 14 million respondents in over 100 countries, and Qatar Airways was declared worlds best airline for 2022.

The Skytrax awards for the worlds best airlines have been awarded since 1999, when the British specialized portal launched a global annual survey on passenger satisfaction with airlines. These awards are considered a kind of Oscars of the airline industry as recognition for the quality and global benchmark of airline excellence, awarded based on the passenger experience.

Government of Serbia Projects GDP Growth of 3.5% by Year-End
The Council for the Coordination of Activities and Measures for the Growth of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) estimates that, according to projections, the current year should end with a GDP growth of 3.5%.

At a session presided over by Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic the results achieved in various industries in the first three quarters of 2022 that affect the GDP were analyzed, and it was also said that the labor market shows no signs of recession for now.

When it comes to foreign trade exchange, despite the difficult economic situation in the world and the environment, it is quite satisfactory compared to 2021, the Government of Serbia says in an announcement.

The situation in the energy sector was specifically discussed at the session and the current situation in the world and Europe was analyzed, as well as the measures that must be taken in Serbia in order to achieve significant savings and mitigate the negative consequences.

It was concluded that it is necessary to first implement short-term measures and stimulate citizens to save electricity, then to form working groups in all sectors of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce (SCC) which would prepare proposals for savings in the shortest time possible, as well as consider ways to reach a solution to reduce losses on the electrical grid, as reported on the Government of Serbia’s website.

The participants in the meeting placed special emphasis on agricultural production and food production.

They established that the sunflower crop is exceptional, and that the corn harvest is currently difficult due to weather conditions.
